We tracked down and were able to resolve this issue. We’ve added some additional protections to prevent this sort of issue from occurring in the future.

We want to let you know about a small bug which started recently: Chats may not be idling out properly.

Normally, idle chats will automatically close after 10 minutes of inactivity. This bug is causing idle chats to remain alive. In order to keep your waiting queues at reasonable levels, please ask your agents to be aware of how long chats have stayed idle, and to manually close chats which have idled out.

We are actively investigating the issue and we hope to resolve it soon.
