Chat Portal sound notification issue FIXED – please read below for important details!Fixed

 

Oct. 25: 9:55am Mountain Time We deployed a fix for the sound notification at 5am today. This fix resolves the sound notification delay experienced by Chrome 46 users, detailed in the October 23 update directly below.

Oct. 23: 4:30pm Mountain Time While we fixed the sound notification issue for the vast majority of our users, we are still hearing reports from our customers of sound notification delays in Chrome 46 and Safari, across several Windows operating system versions. We’ve gathered that this issue seems to occur in Chrome and Safari when the user is on a different browser tab, then they receive an incoming visitor chat, but the sound notification is delayed until they select the Chat Portal tab again.

We expect to deploy a fix for the Chrome 46 sound notification delay on Monday, October 26th; we will update here when the fix has deployed.

At this time we still see sound notifications delays in Safari 9, however the desktop notifications are working fine. We recommend that Safari users either rely on the visual desktop notifications, or switch to another browser such as Firefox or Chrome once the fix is deployed on Monday.

Oct. 22: 12:25pm Mountain Time We have implemented a fix for this issue for all modern browsers.  However, if you do still experience a lack of sound within the Chat Portal, please let us know.

Oct. 15: 10:20 am Mountain Time Some of our customers have been reporting that their Chat Portal sound notifications have not been playing or have been delayed. This appears to be an issue across multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). This issue does not impact other Chat Portal capabilities or communication with your website visitors.

We are currently investigating this issue and it is a top priority. We’ll post an update here as we continue to work on this issue.

If you are experiencing this issue, please try reloading your Chat Portal, as this has been a temporary fix for some customers. Additionally please turn on your Chat Portal desktop notifications, below is a screenshot of how to do that. (Please note, desktop notifications are not supported by Internet Explorer).
